Card making is all about making a good first impression. Not just in the way you design your cards, or the trendy accents, but it is also about the technique. Dry embossing a card can add so much character to a plain sheet of cardstock. Step it up a notch with CSS Imprints for a faux letterpress look and feel when paired with our 118lb, cotton A Blanc Check Deluxe cardstock. This week features ideas using the CSS Imprints line of impression plates. Today we are sharing projects created with the theme {Make an Impression}…

Imprint Card Sets

The current line of impression plates includes (6) Imprint plates. Each impression plate is “Made in America”, 100% steel, and is double-sided with unique designs that are signature to Clear and Simple Stamps.

Here is a peek at each plate in action:

We were inspired by the latest edition of Style Watch (the CSS Newsletter, sign-up here) that for today’s project, we are using Imprints to dress up our CSS Envies.

Color coordinating envies are fun all on their own, but with a little added texture you can certainly dress them up even more! Here we created a pair of note cards and matching, imprinted envelopes.

For this first card set we chose Imprints 4. The woodgrain pattern pairs nicely with the Kraft Like a Rockstar A2 Envie. Simply line up your impression plate along the fold line of the envelope and crank it through your die cutting machine.

Add a A2 Envie Liner, a sweet Bow Trio: Mini bow, and a coordinating card for a simple card set with lots of texture. The Alpha Dots letters on the card are embossed in gold.

For this next card set we added in an extra step. You will follow the same process to imprint your envelope flap with the birch pattern using Imprints 6, and then take a soft gray marker to color in the imprinted area to create a subtle shadow. Add another pretty linen fabric liner and coordinating card to complete the envie.

We used the new Build-a-Flower stamp set for the note card. The blooms were masked down in the bottom right corner to add soft touches of color.

Since envelopes truly are your first impression, make sure to dress them up and set the stage for your hand-crafted goodies waiting inside…
