Bee-llini Brunch

While many are preparing for tonight’s Superbowl festivities, we thought we would start the day off by putting a fun twist on a classic Sunday Brunch. After all, you can’t have a brunch without a good bellini, so why not infuse a little honey into the mix for a fabulous Bee-llini Brunch.

We created a flat invitation with a simple, modern color scheme: True Blue Fan, A Blanc Check , Say Yellow to All Your Fans, and a small pinch of Dare to be a Diva Red. We used the Alpha Duo set to spell out the words for our custom themed party, printed the invite details, and added the headers from the Party Elements: Critters set. This set makes creating parties super easy and so much fun!

For our favor, each guest will take home a Party Favor 3 bag that has an added custom pocket to hold a single tea bag.  Inside of the favor is a mini jar of honey that was also altered and stamped with the honeycomb pattern from the Background Basics 1 set to coordinate with the theme of the event.

REVIEW: Alpha Duo

Generalon February 4th, 20121 Comment

JANUARY/FEBRUARY RELEASE IN REVIEW

There is a new alphabet in town – Alpha Duo. These are not your ordinary alphabets. We’ve mixed open, outline letters with solid letters to create a versatile 2-in-1 alphabet stamp set.  We love how many fun options you have to create great projects.

All week long we will highlight products from the current release, featuring fun tips and tricks, new ideas, and an amazing celebration on February 5th.  So mark your calendars and come be our guests.

Now let’s take a closer look at Alpha Duo….

Alpha Duo

Alphabets can be used in many different ways.  We love to create cards and projects for special occasions, and many times alphabets are the best way to express just the right sentiment.

We used the solid letters from Alpha Duo to create today’s card inspired by one of our favorite bible verses, 1 Corinthians 13:13. Each word was lined up on a clear block and stamped in a row – each row alternating to create a brick pattern.  One thing you will be sure to love about this set is that each letter is equally spaced and sized, which makes lining them up super easy.

The verse was printed on the On the Catwalk Cream cardstock in dark brown ink. The smooth 80lb cardstock is a great weight to work with when printing or die cutting.
And since the card reflects a bible verse, we wanted to create a coordinating bookmarker.  The Tags 1 die cut came in handy and is a great option for making a bookmarker. We stamped the frame and flourish from the Love Cupid set, making sure to mask the frame before stamping the flourish along the edge.

While the mask was still on, we then stamped the text background from Quotes II.  A small heart was added with dimensionals. The heart came from the Build-a-Critter: Owl/Kitty.  It’s always fun to discover a new way to use stamps and die cuts.

The bookmarker was finished off with a bit of twill ribbon secured with a wood button and linen twine tied into a bow.

Pair this bookmarker and card with your preferred version of the Bible for a cherished keepsake to give to someone special. Be sure to join us tomorrow for an AWESOME treat….

REVIEW: Lucky Charm

JANUARY/FEBRUARY RELEASE IN REVIEW

Everyone could use a little good luck charm. And with the latest release, we are creating fun projects with the new Lucky Charm set. At first, it may have you thinking St. Patrick’s Day, but if you take a closer look at the set you will unlock a few fab finds that expand your options while creating.

All week long we will highlight products from the current release, featuring fun tips and tricks, new ideas, and an amazing celebration on February 5th.  So mark your calendars and come be our guests.

Now let’s take a closer look at Lucky Charm….

Lucky Charm

We focused mainly on the small clover circle image to stamp in a row for the focal point on our card.  We left an opening wide enough for a simple greeting to create this CAS-style card.

For the favor box we stamped the background text from Quotes II around the base.  Then assemble the Party Favor 2 box with Simple Adhesive, and tied a matching ribbon into a bow. To complete the favor, we added a simple tag from the Tags 1 die cut that has been stamped with a frame and sentiment from the Trendy Tags set.

But wait there are so many more wonderful options with the Lucky Charm set!  It comes with a full size tag frame that coordinates with the Tags 1 die cut.  It also has a polka-a-dot top and bottom frame filler to add even more detail to your tags, like the example we shared here.

There is a super fun rainbow image that pairs well with the pot-o-gold from the Taglines set, that was featured in this cute project by SW Editor Amber Daigre here.

And in case you missed all the fun and excitement on the Runway Inspired Challenge blog, you can see even more amazing creations from Cristina Kowalczyk, Sarah Jay, Jennifer Rzasa, Angeline Yong, and Laura Bassen here.

REVIEW: Critter Basics

General, Party Favors, Valentine's Dayon February 2nd, 20123 Comments

JANUARY/FEBRUARY RELEASE IN REVIEW

We love creating with Little Critters. Today we are taking a closer look at using Background Basics 1 + Critter Sentiments. This fun project uses coordinating patterns and customized punny sentiments to create a Valentine gift set. All week long we will highlight products from the current release, featuring fun tips and tricks, new ideas, and an amazing celebration on February 5th.  So mark your calendars and come be our guests.

Now let’s take a closer look at Background Basics 1 + Critter Sentiments….

Critter Sentiments + Background Basics 1

____________________________________________________________________

The Critters Sentiment set comes with a huge amount of sentiment options that coordinate so easily with any of the Critter sets.  We chose to create with the Owl from Taglines: Critters for our punny Valentine favor.

And the little favor would not be complete without a matching Owl valentine to go along with it. The Build-a-Critter: Owl die cut makes fun shape cards come to together quickly. We added the geometric square design from the Background Basics 1 set for added detail on the owl’s belly.  This same background is repeated on the Party Favor 1 bag.

You may have noticed that the “owl” sentiment is solid.  We used the coordinating Alpha Duo set to stamp the word in one solid color so that it would stand out.  The alphabet set is designed so that all the letters will line up easily and will be equally spaced – this makes creating with alphabets so much fun.

We love the versatility of the Love Cupid stamp set.  The mix and match sentiments allow for so many possibilities from Valentine’s Day, weddings and anniversaries, to a simple love note. We’ve paired the half damask image with the Quotes II background text for a delicate layered image on the die cut heart from the Shapes (Hearts) die cut combo set for the card’s focal point. We finished the card with a precious banner stamped with a sweet sentiment – perfect for a special loved one.
